KOFY TV has an immediate opening for an experienced Chief Engineer. This position includes duties as Studio Engineer, Chief Operator and Assistant IT Director. Master Control is outsourced but KOFY has a busy production department, 3 subchannels and a Harris Sigma IOT transmitter on Sutro Tower. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently to maintain all equipment at the studio and transmitter sites.
Responsibilities include:
• Maintain Harris Sigma Transmitter, Harmonic Encoding equipment, EAS equipment and studio equipment such as cameras, lights, microphones, etc.
• Maintain Station Logs, EAS Logs, Transmitter Logs, etc.
• Prepare and maintain Engineering budget
• Plan, budget and implement capital projects
• Maintain Public File
• Prepare and file quarterly FCC report (398, Commercial Limits Certification, and Issues/Program lists)
Qualifications:
• Experience with high power IOT transmitters, UDP/RTP transmission (our STL not ASI !), and ATSC encoding equipment
• Strong working knowledge of ATSC encoding/PSIP/MPEG testing
• Experience with studio production
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience working in a Broadcast Television station or similar media driven technical environment
• Previous experience in television station operations, camera and recording systems, non-linear editors and video servers is a must.
• College level training in informational technology and/or television technology preferred.
• Achievement of an FCC General Class License or various SBE Certifications is most desirable.
• Valid California's Driver's License
