Position Summary
KIAH, a Tribune Broadcasting station, has an opening for a Full-Time Digital Producer to work in our Houston location.
The Digital Producer will be able to creatively take assigned work from concept to completion to assist in effectively maintaining and promoting all station digital and social media platforms.
Primary Responsibilities
• Excellent at writing SEO headlines that increase page views and package content that improves engagement time on the site
• Package and promote breaking news
• Enterprise story ideas
• Publish video to syndication networks
• Promote and distribute content on social media
• Evaluate website traffic trends
• Monitor major news websites, local and state news websites, blogs and social media for breaking news and trending topics
• Produce unique, high-quality content to grow our digital product offerings
• Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• Bachelors' degree preferred; equivalent experience required
• 2-3 years of experience gathering and/or producing digital news content
• Knowledge of SEO best practices
• Strong AP-style writing and copyediting skills (writing test will be given)
• Strong understanding of social media platforms
• Experience with non-linear video editing and a reel highlighting your best work
• Basic understanding of video editing/production
• Ability to work in a rapid, fast-paced environment
• Ability to learn new technology independently and quickly
• Self-motivated with ability to balance multiple projects and priorities
• Proficiency with the following digital tools (or similar); including MS Office, WordPress, mobile push notifications, SMS texting, video publishing, AP style, Photoshop and basic HTML
• Knowledge of Houston and surrounding suburban communities
