Full Time Job
The Publicist is responsible for working alongside the Executive Director and VP of Communications to liaise with key constituents throughout the organization to identify key projects and initiatives; create compelling messaging; and execute publicity campaigns, with heavy emphasis on media outreach and digital marketing of key content. This role also has additional responsibilities that support events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Reporting and Analysis
• Ensure public views the organization favorably.
• Ensures media receives timely and accurate materials and messages tied to strategies and campaigns
• Exercises superior judgment and caution when posting on social media platforms tied to company initiatives
• Works with Executive Director to create and launch press releases and marketing campaigns.
• Works with Executive Director to develop internal communications and external media relations strategies.
• Provides timely reporting to Executive Director on active campaigns
Administration
• Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies;
• Liaising with colleagues and key spokespeople;
• Managing/facilitating cross-promotional opps with partners. i.e. Heal the Bay and American Pavilion at Cannes
• Managing and updating press lists through Vocus/Cision
• Liaising with and answering inquiries from media, individuals and other organizations, often via telephone and email;
• Researching, writing and distributing press releases and other communications to targeted media;
• Working with publicity team to assemble and analyze media coverage;
• Oversee and manage vendors for all publicity activity (photographers, printers, mail houses, graphic designers)
• Organizing event activity including press conferences, talent interviews, red carpet management, photography, brand activation, exhibitions and press tours;
• Maintaining and updating information on the organization's press website;
• Managing and updating information and engaging with social media team to strategize messaging and timing with platforms sites such as Twitter and Facebook;
• Sourcing and managing executive speaking and sponsorship opportunities;
• Staffing community events and fostering goodwill with community
Compliance
• In collaboration with Executive Director, Communications, ensures appropriate messaging that supports the brand.
• Confers with Executive Director, Communications on all strategic decision
Other
• Attends meetings and trainings as needed.
• Under the guidance of the Legal department, develops campaigns in accordance with state, local, and federal regulations.
• Performs any other duties, as requested or required.
Position Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism and/or related discipline
• Three- to Five years of progressive experience in television and digital marketing and publicity, both on-air and online
• Must have a proven track record of strong communications skills, and innovative ideas that have resulted in increased audiences on all multi-media platforms.
• Must be highly knowledgeable in digital, on-air and social media cross-marketing.
• Must be a team player
• Must have the ability to write clearly and concisely.
• Must have ability to work under deadline pressure at fast pace and interact well with staff.
• Must have ability to translate ''corporate-speak'' into engaging copy
• Must have an energetic, enthusiastic, positive attitude and self-motivation extremely important.
