Head of Business and Legal Affairs
JASH is a comedy community and media company specializing in development, production, and exploitation of quality comedic programming. JASH is looking for an experienced entertainment and intellectual property attorney who can manage a deal pipe that includes traditional television development and production, digital content and distribution, branded entertainment, and live events businesses.
The individual selected for this role will report directly to the heads of the company on all legal matters, which include:
• Drafting and negotiating a wide variety of entertainment contracts, such as development and production services agreements, license agreements, rights and talent agreements
• Manage legal matters that arise during development and production such as advising on IP issues, rights/chain of title analysis, indemnification, guild issues and dispute resolution
• Drafting and negotiating distribution agreements, platform services agreements, brand deals, licenses, promotion agreements and talent agreements
• Creating and managing all company forms and templates
• Partnering with business executives to implement best practices and processes for company's business needs
• Developing rights management systems for company IP
Qualifications
• Member of a U.S. state bar, California or New York preferred
• JD degree from an accredited law school
• A minimum of seven years experience in entertainment practice, either at a boutique entertainment firm or studio in-house business affairs department
• Meaningful experience in TV development and production is required
• The desire and ability to find creative solutions that translate to forward moving progress.
