International Technological University, Digital Arts Department, invites applications for adjunct faculty to provide instruction and/or related departmental services in a variety of content areas. The responsibilities for this position will include some or all of the following: teaching; student advising; and administrative responsibilities, such as student recruitment, retention and placement efforts. You may also be provided with a more specific set of job expectations.
Education/Experience
BA in Design or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. Previous industry and/or teaching experience highly preferred.
The candidate(s) should teach one or more of the following courses:
- DGA 518 UI/UX: User Interfaces & User Experiences (3 credit hours)
From PC's, smartphones, and tablets to common consumer products like TVs, cars,
and refrigerators, the user interface (UI) is more prolific than ever and demand
for great UI designers is higher than ever. This course will interweave topics such
as fundamental design, navigational flow, psychological and interactive principles
in order to give students the greatest exposure and guidance to delivering the
greatest user experience (UX).
- DGA 512 Web Graphic Design (3 credit hours)
This course provides students with instruction in graphic editing software.
Projects will use tools, layers and filters to design, edit and create digital images
for the Web, apps and digital and interactive media. Topics covered will include:
Basic Web design tenets, Using color effectively, Understanding fonts, Designing
navigation, Creating graphics that don't distract from your site, and Using
multimedia (sound, animation, and other media) on your site.
- DGA 507 Design Fundamentals (3 credit hours)
This course focuses on the fundamental visual language of design and its
application in the media and tech industries. There will be a focus on traditional
design fundamentals, such as type and composition, but these fundamentals will
be taught in the context of modern digital methodologies, techniques and
productions. Course projects will include designing mobile apps, video games,
digital films or other industry specific applications.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability
Excellent communication skills are essential as is a strong commitment to excellence in
teaching, service and technology application in the classroom. Ability to instruct
students of varying preparation and abilities. Courses require strong technology and
organizational skills.
As part of Instructional Activity load:
-) prepare courses in accordance with published faculty workload guidelines and
departmental requirements;
-) prepare and distribute course syllabi according to university and departmental
requirements;
-) grade all assignments, quizzes, projects, and/or exams as described in the course
syllabi; and submit final grades;
-) meet with students (in person or virtually) as related to instructional activity;
-) evaluate, update, and revise courses regularly; and
-) participate in the assessment activities of the Department, and University as
directed.
