Insignia Films (dir. Stephen Ives) is seeking interns with serious interest in documentary film, history, and/or journalism.
This is a great opportunity for students and graduates looking to get practical experience in PBS-style documentary film. Interns will be involved with project research; pre-production planning; assisting on set on production days; and archival research, among other areas. We are also open to shaping the internship around your interests.
We are currently delivering two films that will air on PBS as part of the American Experience series. The Big Burn is a documentary about America's largest wildfire to date, which, more than any other event, shaped our nation's fire policy and formed the values of our forest service. And Inventing Edison a biographical documentary about a pioneer who changed the way we invent in the modern world.
We are also in various phases of production on four Retro Reports , which will air on the New York Times Homepage next year.
Previous Insignia Films productions include 1964, Constitution USA with Peter Sagal, Grand Coulee Dam, Panama Canal, Roads to Memphis, Emmy-award winning Seabiscuit, Emmy-nominated Reporting America at War, and the landmark series, The West, for PBS.
