ABOUT IDEATE MEDIA
Ideate Media is a joint venture between Khazanah Nasional Berhad (the private equity arm of the Malaysian government) and Astro Overseas Limited (the investment arm of one of Asia's leading diversified Media companies), set up to develop, create and monetize commercial TV and film for the local (Malaysian), regional (pan-Asian) and global market.
The company has its HQ in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and a satellite office in Los Angeles.
Ideate seeks to tell Asian stories that can be embraced by a global market. From untold tales of history, to mining the rich supernatural mythologies of Asia, to modern thrillers that take place in the global cities of the East, from Singapore to Shanghai; from remakes of blockbuster Korean films, to best-selling Malay novels, Ideate believes that the narrative arc of the world is tending East and is building a global content company with its heart in Asia.
The company is headed by Zainir Aminullah, CEO, based in KL with an LA office run by Arvind Ethan David, who serves as Head of Ideate Media USA. The company currently has one TV series in production (the pre-school animated series Bubble Bath Bay) and has an active slate of a dozen live development projects in both film and TV, with more being added monthly.
The company is a ''start-up'' but funded for aggressive growth, and anticipates having up to three shows (across TV & film) in production by end 2014, and a development slate of 20+ projects on an annual basis.
