SUMMARY
Primary function is to observe and report in order to ensure the highest quality broadcast signal.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Watch On-Air Network send and return feeds to ensure technical transmission and quality of broadcast. Take appropriate action if it is not within ION broadcast standards.
• Effectively communicate and troubleshoot all outages/issues as needed.
• Cross reference air logs against on air playlists to ensure accuracy and timing.
• Modify on air playlists as needed to ensure setup and execution of on air elements through automated commands.
• Monitor playlist elements to ensure that they will be ready for transmission at required time. Follow up or report missing items. Identify and report programming discrepancies.
• Perform MCO duties for Tampa-WXPX including monitoring over the air signals, transmitter levels and logging power levels along with cable systems or other network feeds.
• Monitor local weather (re: transmitter adjustments or need for generator)
• Coordinate with Media Dept. ingest of any satellite feeds as needed.
• Transfer and check channel branding graphics
• Fill in for building security when needed along with handling all incoming packages for TOC on weekends.
• Monitor temperature controls for the in the data rooms.
• Ensure that all on air equipment is operational and follow necessary procedures if it is not.
• Collaborate with other shift leads to build a monthly work schedule.
• Enforce and adhere to company policies and procedures including corporate guidelines and best practices.
• Maintain clean work area.
• Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
• Ability to maintain monitoring focus for extended periods of time
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Work well under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication/documentation skills.
• Organized and self-motivated.
• Knowledge of all related origination equipment, or ability to learn.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot minor operational problems.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to work well with a team.
• Ability to proactively identify problems and troubleshoot before affecting air.
• Must have flexible work schedule to work anytime in a 24/7 operation (nights, weekends, holidays).
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS PREFERED
• Communications degree or technical school training preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of television experience in Master Control at a major network or television station.
