REPORTS TO: Production Manager

House of Yes is a creative collective and venue in Bushwick Brooklyn dedicated to entertainment, expression and celebration that fuses nightlife, performance, culture, technology and community. Our mission is to support innovative live performance, dance culture by offering resources as well as creating events and opportunities to connect.
DESCRIPTION:
The Production Assistant at House of Yes works closely with the Production Manager to prepare and load the space for each event in our full calendar of events. Day to day duties include pulling requested props and sets from storage, coordination for dropoffs/pickups of loaned sculptures, decor and prop installation, room layout (moving tables and chairs). The role also supports the venue with operations maintenance and improvement projects. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working efficiently and organizing to optimize the flow of all the events. This is a physically demanding role with many tasks that are time sensitive, so it is vital to have strong pre-planning and accurate time estimation skills. Our events are complex with many moving parts that the PA supports. We are known for miraculously pivoting from one event to another in minutes, and much of this magic comes down to how this role executes.
Our highly collaborative environment is best suited for candidates who can take direction from a variety of inputs, is resourceful and creative, and is adept at creating last-minute solutions. Prefered candidates have interest or experience in rigging, and are also looking to build a career in nightlife, festival production or theatre.
QUALIFICATIONS:
3+ years experience required in any of the following: event / festival production, live music / bands, theater, circus or cabaret, nightlife, film production.
Basic handyman, plumbing, electrical, and/or carpentry skills
Experience in setting up event AV: audio, lighting, video
Understands how to stay organized to make execution quick and efficient
Personable and positive - ''yes!'' is first answer
On-Time and Dependable
Zen-like approach to production
Clear communication skills and strong attention to detail
Able to multitask gracefully in a ultra fast and schedule-based environment
Exceptionally good judgment, common sense and intuition.
Able to lift 50lbs+ comfortably
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set the room layout according to the needs of events
Organize and optimize onsite and offsite storage for efficient use of frequently used props
Maintain venue tidiness and make sure everything is working properly
Take ownership of our inventory of tools, equipment, materials & supplies
Drive our 20' truck as needed for storage runs and errands
Help Production Manager make accurate plans for load in and event transitions
Onsite troubleshooting (correct floor layout, missing props, etc)
Knowledgeable about HOY policies
Special projects and tasks as determined with supervisor
HOURS: Full time 30-40 hours per week plus regular overtime. The week before and after Halloween and New Year's is mandatory availability. Ongoing schedule depends on the needs of events.
