LA-based entertainment website and YouTube Channel, Hollywire, seeks motivated and hard-working interns for the Fall 2016 semester. The position will be based in our Culver City office, and is available to students currently enrolled in their junior or senior year of college - graduate students will also be considered. Hollywire is a rapidly growing, fast-paced, entertainment site covering film, TV, music, fashion, and pop culture. We are looking for detail-oriented, self-starters with a passion for and knowledge of pop-culture and entertainment. The position provides interns with hands-on experience of entertainment focused editorial coverage - providing the opportunity to write for Hollywire's social networks, write for Hollywire TV, and the opportunity to write blogs, articles, and interviews for the Hollywire website. Candidates must have a strong interest in pop culture, and have excellent writing and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
• Support the editorial team in creating content for the Hollywire + Hollywire TV social networks
• Create memes, info-graphics, etc. for social media
• Track entertainment industry news and trends - film, music, fashion, celebrity, YouTube, etc.
• Assist with updating social networking accounts - Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.
• Attend company staff meetings, and other required events for coverage
• Brainstorm, research, and pitch story ideas
• Assist with script development + basic script writing
• Maintain and update PR contact list, event calendars, and editorial calendar
• Assist with daily news coverage and other special projects
• Transcribe original interviews
Requirements:
• Currently enrolled college student (junior, senior year, or graduate student)
• Excellent research, reporting, writing, and proofreading skills
• Ability to work a minimum 18 hours per week in the Hollywire office
• Microsoft Office proficient - Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
• Must have own computer
• Strong interest in pop culture, entertainment, and new media
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills - attention to detail is a must
• Must be a self-motivated team player with a strong work-ethic, eager to learn, excellent written and verbal communication skills, reliable transportation, a great attitude, and a sense-of-humor
• Working knowledge of social media - Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, Pinterest, etc.
Preferences:
• Working knowledge of YouTube and its major players
• Working knowledge of Photoshop
• Working knowledge of social media platforms - Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.
