The duties of the Director of Entertainment & Events are as follows:
• Develop and implement plans to provide engaging entertainment and special event options for park Guests
• Accountable for the overall operation of the entertainment and events department including all production shows, costumed characters, roaming entertainment, and special events
• Oversee the standards of the production shows covering all aspects, from choreography and direction to maintenance of costumes and all technical aspects
• Schedule yearly auditions and hiring standards of the production show entertainers, costumed characters, and technicians
• Develop performance schedule
• Coordinate the successful design, planning, and implementation of Holiday World & Splashin' Safari special events
• Collaborate with key stakeholders in all business units throughout special event planning and implementation
• Work closely with Marketing, Sales, and Communications department members throughout the creative process and provide appropriate event information to assist in the successful marketing and promotion of special events
• Provide post-event recaps to internal stakeholders and facilitate improvement plan discussions
• Plan and administer department budget with a goal of cost efficient productions and profitable events
• Maintain industry involvement with IAAPA and entertainment related organizations
• Manage positive relationships with production companies
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers, vendors, and performers
• Manage seasonal staff including recruiting, scheduling, performance management, daily tasks, company policies, and discipline
• Be available to work unscheduled hours to respond to unplanned and/or emergency work
• Must work weekends and holidays during the operating season
• Assume Ambassador responsibilities on a rotating basis
• Other duties as assigned
The requirements of the Director of Entertainment & Events are as follows:
• Bachelor's Degree in related discipline
• 3-5 years of professional experience in Entertainment or related field
• 3-5 years of management experience
• Project management experience
• Prior experience in the amusement/theme park or high-volume tourist-based entertainment venue is preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software programs
• Willingness to travel overnight to attend and participate in seminars, meetings, and conferences out of town
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work full-time
• Acceptable pre-employment drug screen, credit check, and background check
• Acceptable scores of technical and psychological assessments
