Summary: Coordinates day-to-day production activities and facilitates the requests and requirements of the Creative, Production, and Account Management teams on projects to produce effective, high-end work for clients. The position requires an ad agency background and/or the production experience necessary to be proficient in scheduling, budgeting, managing personnel, and supervising resources throughout all phases of production.
Position Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required.
• 5-7 years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Previous experience in long-form desirable and short-form DRTV is essential.
• Proven success in DRTV strategy and marketing practices is highly desired.
• Strong knowledge of SAG/AFTRA and other trade union rules and regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Supports the Creative & Production Department in the oversight and execution of pre-production, production, and post-production of assigned projects.
• Reports to Executive Producer with any questions and communicates status of each assignment on a daily basis.
• Actively participates in Creative & Production Department meetings, with a commitment to discuss industry news and express new ideas, solutions, and honest opinions.
• Breaks down scripts to identify the following requirements: talent, locations/studio, art direction, wardrobe & makeup, special equipment, editing, graphics, visual effects, music & audio recording, and/or any other special needs.
• Develops a tentative production schedule and initial budget based on script breakdowns, ensuring that the creative concept of each project works within the proposed budget.
• Manages and supervises production activities throughout all phases of production with an eye toward controlling costs.
• Works with Executive Producer, Production Manager and/or Post Production Supervisor to maintain accurate working budgets and projected actuals.
• Works with the Account Management team to clearly communicate client/product requirements and effectively document key approval points all throughout production - casting, locations, set design, wardrobe, graphic design, rough cuts, final spots, etc.
• Identifies any client-driven overages and initiates the Change Order process through the Account Director, providing estimates of any and all necessary additional expenses.
• Acts as the liaison on set between the Account Management team and Director, helping to ensure that client comments are addressed while still facilitating a productive work environment for all.
• Meets delivery deadlines on time and on budget, providing the necessary deliverables to the Executive Producer, Post Production Supervisor, and Production Accountant.
• Generates a Completion Report, Producer's Actual, As-Produced Script, and any other Production documents necessary to successfully wrap a project.
• Works with Production Manager, Post Production Supervisor, and Production Accountant to compile and detail all necessary paperwork for each wrap binder.
• Keep abreast of trends in the Brand Response and Direct Response markets.
• Interfaces with all Hawthorne departments and clients as required.
• Acts as a positive and knowledgeable representative of Hawthorne Direct and makes every effort to maintain a positive, supportive attitude, along with a commitment to open communication.
• Follows all department and company policies and procedures, appropriately asking for clarification when questions arise.
• Provides backup and overflow support for other positions within the department as needed.
• Completes other duties and projects as assigned based on department and/or company needs.
• Provides training, support, and guidance to other personnel as assigned.
• Works a flexible schedule and/or overtime as required.
