We are seeking a Director of Business & Legal Affairs to support our television division. This position would primarily be responsible for providing legal support for our animated television and game show programs. The ideal candidate will possess superior negotiation and legal drafting skills and a high level of attention to detail. In addition, the successful candidate has excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong initiative to take on tasks and excel in a fast paced, results oriented workplace. The ability to communicate legal issues succinctly and to anticipate follow up needs is essential. Established relationships within the entertainment legal affairs community is a plus.
Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Head of Business and Legal Affairs for Hasbro Studios and will focus on many legal aspects of our domestic production, legal and rights related matters including:
• Draft a wide variety of television development and production related agreements in connection with animation, game shows and possibly live action programs.
• Review scripts and programming for clearances and potential legal risks.
• Handle guild-related matters.
• Partner with Hasbro legal team on copyright, litigation, trademark, and clearances matters.
• Handle general legal affairs matters as needed.
Requirements:
• J.D. from accredited law school, excellent academic credentials, California Bar membership in good standing
• Minimum 3 (preferably 5) years of legal affairs experience at a production company, studio, network and/or major law firm specializing in television animation productions.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, make sound decisions, and excellent follow through.
• Demonstrated ability to manager and prioritize substantial and diverse workload and complete tasks within deadlines
• Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
