The House Manager's primary responsibility is to oversee all aspects of Front-of-House operations for the Hammer Museum's 298 seat Billy Wilder Theater, 200 seat annex theater and other locations utilized for film, conversations, music, theater, and dance performances. Duties include: Preparing the lobby and theater for a performance, managing and training student ushers, supervising audience seating, communicating with production staff to ensure timely starts and intermissions, maintaining the safety and comfort of all patrons and upholding the highest level of customer service. Approximate number of hours per week: 15-18.
Other responsibilities include working with the box office staff to address any patron complaints or ticketing issues, handling any issues that arise during performances such as cellphone usage or photography, and securing the building at the close of every shift. House Manager will also supervise box office staff.
A background in Box Office or House Management is required. Must have excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well under pressure. Must be reliable, responsible, and a good leader.
This position reports to the Manager, Visitor Services. Also takes direction from Director, Events & Visitor
