The Voice Captioner's primary responsibility is to provide accurate captions of a live shopping network broadcast. The voice captioning will be performed using state of the art voice recognition technology. Voice captioning is captured when the captioinst speaks into a microphone the content of the live broadcast. He/she will, add speaker changes, and punctuation, as it is sent out simultaneous to the live broadcast.
Day in the Life
- Maintain store, back up and continually update personal voice models
- Input new terminology, product information, and proper names using vocabulary, text substitution keys, and dictation macros
- Captioning involves maintaining the integrity of the grammar, message, punctuation and proper identifications of speakers and change - in speakers using comparable broadcast standard
- Perform to the standards of quality that are established
- Utilize correcting tools and strategies while providing live caption, including but not limited to the use of the keyboard
- Make adjustments and corrections after every live caption session for accuracy improvement
- Monitor technical issues and report to supervisor
- Perform audio checks at the beginning of each captioning session and controls and maintains appropriate vocal volume

Must Haves
- HS Diploma/GED
- General knowledge of windows based programs and the ability to operate programs in a windows based environment
- Demonstrated ability to locate resources and come up with ideas and efficiencies to improve the work.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team to achieve the expectations of captioning for a live broadcast or for the completion of a project
- Demonstrated strong verbal skills - enunciation and clear speech
- Ability to quickly learn the captioning software
- Must be flexible in a 24 hour 7 day a week work environment, which may include working on holidays and/or weekends
- No experience necessary, training provided.
Nice to Haves
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to adapt and learn industry related items
- Ability to comprehend, listen, and communicate both orally and written
- Ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment without easily being distracted
- Ability to build and maintain relationships across the organization with various levels of employees
- Strong memory-recall ability
