Business Unit Summary
You will have the unique opportunity of being a part of a live, 24/7, studio environment and will gain insight to the Visual Production Department and gain better understanding of how each area of Scenic, Lighting and Set Styling plays a part in the overall vision of the programming. The On Call Lighting Gaffer is responsible for running a crew of 4 to 6 people, final focus of all sets, lighting lead for camera blockings and lighting control set up for all small and large scale projects.
Day in the Life
- Detailed walk through of studio lamp, lighting position focus, safety and set condition
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment with in the studios
- Prioritize and coordinate the daily lighting tasks and projects as per show schedule
- Over sees all aspects of lighting set focus and project time lines
- Advanced programming of the Strand light Pallet consol
- Advanced understanding and working field knowledge, of HMI equipment
- Applied working knowledge of moving light equipment
- Update studio plots on VectorWorks
- Over see and maintain expendable inventories
- Looks at all aspects of the on-air look including camera blocking, lighting and set presentation
- Lighting lead for all camera blockings

Must Haves
- 3 years in television or film production with lighting experience
- 2 years managing a crew on projects
- Climb ladders and must be comfortable with heights
- Lift, Pull and Push items over 50 lbs
- Packaging/un-packaging items
- Stand for extending periods of time
- Use of hands or fingers to handle/feel objects tools or controls with the ability to reach with arms
- Balance, Kneel, Crouch, or Crawl
- Close, Distant, Peripheral, Depth vision
- Ability to adjust and focus sight
- Degree in related field or equivalent work history in related field
- Advanced knowledge of studio equipment including sets, props, cameras, conventionals, HMI, moving lights, RGB, CMY fixtures and DMX control
- Advanced working knowledge of programming Strand Light Pallet consol
- Advanced working knowledge of light meters
- Advanced working knowledge in color corrections and lamp photo metrics
Nice to Have
- 5 years in television or film production with lighting experience
- 3 years managing a crew on projects
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to build and maintain good working relationships with a diverse group of individuals and personalities
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to achieve projects individually and work with a team
