UI Designer (Mid-Level)
Our Design Team creates print and digital solutions for the airline industry, providing the interface to the passenger in both these formats. We work with globally recognized airlines, producing publications that engage and inform the passenger of the entertainment selection available, while promoting and exposing the content for the airlines. You will be part of the global team who have been helping the airline and travel industry deliver a brilliant entertainment experience to passengers around the world for over three decades.
Our goal is to delight, inform and inspire passengers at every stage of their journey.
Key responsibilities
We are looking for a talented UI Designer to create amazing user experiences. The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean and artful design, possess superior UI skills and be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, and transform them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional user interfaces..
You will complete most of User Interface work on a computer using specialized industry-standard graphics and multimedia software packages such as Adobe CS and prototyping software. You will have to work closely with other colleagues involved in projects, such as software developers, product developers, translation resources, producers, marketing and sales staff. You may also work directly with clients.
Your working hours are 9:00 – 5:30 (with an hour for lunch) 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Extra hours are common, especially to meet critical project deadlines and instances where international time zones apply. The work is done in an open-plan design studio, with much of your time sitting and working at a computer, though we encourage meetings and people to stand up and move around.
You will have a degree or diploma, this may be in graphic design, digital user interface design, user experience, illustration, fine art or a related subject. We expect you to have learned the essential skills while completing their qualifications, and may support further study, eg for a postgraduate degree on a case by case basis. We also encourage in-house or external training in specific aspects of the job, such as presentation, and specific niche skills. As a UI designer you will be expected to keep up to date with the latest trends in the industry, and reflect this understanding in your approach to your work.
As a UI designer, your responsibilities are to:
• Collaborate with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience
• Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering
• Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
• Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
• Present and explain designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders
• Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback
• Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards
Requirements:
• Proven UI experience (at least 3 years within a recognized UI/UX agency)
• Demonstrable UI design skills with a strong portfolio
• Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud
• Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction?
• Ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders
• Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
• Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding of common software project management practices eg, Agile, and Scrum
Qualifications
• Degree Level qualification (within the Creative spectrum)
• Experience; At least 3 years working within a Creative agency full-time
• You will require an expert knowledge of Adobe CC, especially with the key programmes; Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
• Working knowledge of Sketch would be a huge benefit but not essential
• You will need to have experience with wire-framing, prototyping and rapid prototyping tools
• You should be confident in the Microsoft Office Suite
