Description
Key responsibilities
Supervised by Vice President of Program Management, the Sr. Program Manager has overall accountability for complex program(s) from concept thru launch. Organizes and leads a cross-functional core team on product development and delivery programs. The programs managed by the Sr. Program Manager represent critical strategic imperatives and have direct visibility to senior management. The Sr. Program Manager has the required skills to form high performing teams that will result in the timely and high quality execution of the assigned program(s). Partners with Sales, Product Teams, and other operating groups to develop and manage integrated delivery plans to support business development activities, customer trials, and the ongoing delivery of Global Eagle Entertainment products and services.
Cross-Functional Management and Coordination
• Partners with Sales and Product Teams to develop the cross-functional plan/strategy to support customer programs and drives execution of solution/product delivery plans.
• Provides leadership to the cross-functional teams by helping define clear, realistic goals; clears barriers to team progress and manages the resolution/mitigation of project risks and issues.
• Collects, analyzes, integrates, and maintains cross-functional deliverables (i.e., integrated project plans, change management plans, and risk management plans).
• Drives day-to-day activities to meet project milestones and keep functions on track.
• Ensures linkage between strategy and operational activities.
• Tracks team performance and proactively alerts team and management about deviations from plan
Project Schedule, Resource, and Project Risk Management
• Consolidates functional inputs to develop, maintain, and align an accurate, integrated project schedule and resource plan
• Facilitates the Risk Management process (i.e., identification, assessment, mitigation, and management of project risks)
• Understands critical path activities and anticipates steps that may be bottlenecks
• Generates analysis of timeline and resource information to facilitate scenario planning, contingency planning, risk assessment and management, and decision-making.
• Monitors and manages team performance metrics (e.g., time, cost, and quality milestones) relative to agreed upon project plan
• Identifies deviations from approved project plan and timelines and keeps the core team and management informed as to their nature and extent.
• Responsible for maintaining accurate project timelines and providing information during the financial planning cycles as required.
• Ensures smooth transition across the organization for initial concept through product development, manufacturing/procurement, and product/service launch.
Project Information / Communication Management
• Develops and executes communication plan to ensure effective and timely communication between the Core Team and functional management, senior management, and external partners. Update and communicate all needed issues as appropriate to facilitate rapid and cross-functional decision-making.
• Represents the project team in operations review meetings, which will ultimately influence the decision to continue, stop or redirect the program. Sr. Program Manager is expected to report team progress, highlight risks, clarify issues, suggest recommendations, and present next stage plans.
Qualifications
• 10 years experience managing complex solution delivery programs; with 5 years experience directly managing customer relationships.
• Successful track record of managing cross-functional project teams comprised of internal and external resources
• Bachelors degree – required; MBA - preferred
• PMP or Prince 2 certification required
• Technical knowledge in the following areas preferred:
• Wireless Networking, Satellite Communications, Digital Content Distribution

• PC literate; Microsoft Office and Project; Project Collaboration Tools
