Role Summary
The position of Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of global communications projects within the assigned business unit or other business units as required. The project manager will ensure consistency within the customer scope as well as adhering to company strategy, commitments and goals.
Key Responsibilities
Describe the key responsibilities & role criteria. More specifically, the job entails:
• Lead the planning and implementation of complex customer projects
• Work with internal departments, project engineering, compliance, finance
• Main customer interface for project related activities
• Define project tasks and resource requirement
• Develop full scale project plans
• Assemble and coordinate project staff
• Manage project budget within profit and loss guidelines
• Manage project resource allocation
• Plan and schedule project timelines
• Track project deliverables using appropriate tools
• Provide direction and support to project team
• Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
• Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
• Project evaluations and assessment of results
• Other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications/Experience
• BS or BA in engineering, technical or business preferred
• 5 years’ project management experience within the energy/ maritime/ communications industries.
• Knowledge of VSAT, satellite, IP networks and telecom technology desirable
• PMP/Prince2 certification essential or ability to achieve certification within 1 year of employment
• Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
• Proven experience in resource management in matrix organizations
Skills/Interests
• Critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Capable of working with self-initiative and with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain focus in high stress environments
• Understanding of commercial aspects such contracts
