Fusion is seeking a creative producer to join our News team in the Los Angeles office. The LA-based News team works on correspondent-driven and explainer videos about trending and breaking news of the day.
The creative producer will report to the executive producer. The ideal candidate is organized, fast, and capable of juggling many projects effectively. She or he will edit videos (both digital-only and TV-to-digital) for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other platforms, and knows the best practices for each platform.
This person will not only edit but also create motion graphics. She or he will work closely with a team of producers and writers to produce creative standalone videos, and collaborate at early stages of production, as well as foresee problems and help the producer find alternatives. The video producer is knowledgeable about the biggest stories of the moment and can generate original ideas for how to translate those stories into engaging videos.
Responsibilities:
2+ years of experience in digital video production with demonstrated results in creating widely shared videos on social media platforms
Mastery of Adobe Premiere, proficiency in After Effects, and skills in other video editing tools
Ability to optimize post-production workflows, from ingest to color correction to audio mastering
Experience with managing deadlines, feedback, notes, and approvals
Contribute ideas at regular story meetings
Ability to work independently
Collaborative, optimistic attitude and clear, effective communication across teams
Passion for news, politics, storytelling, and social justice
