Full Time Job
The Segment Producer's purpose is to assist the line producer with daily segments, topics, talent coordination, tease/bump material, and guest preparation. The Segment Producer conceives and pitches compelling stories and ideas for segments within the show. The Person also line produces some segments and under the guidance of the CP and Producer. The goal with that is to learn the skillsets require of the producer position to eventually grow into that role. One of the added job functions is overseeing the edit bay work of the Associate Producers as well as coordinating the staff workflow (assigning tapes to be cut and managing the use of edit bays). Segment Producers will also be called upon to travel for field assignments like live shots and occasional features to produce.
Responsibilities:
• Works with talent on the show for research, video, and segment ideas.
• Preps interview material for guest segments including questions, research, video and graphic information.
• Generates segment ideas and will occasionally line produce those segments, helps junior staff member produce bumps and tease/open copy and execution.
• Is in the control room during airing of live segment to assist the producer and control room staff. At other times, on set during show instructing talent.
• Field produce segments and/or produce taped elements in edit bay when needed.
• Assists in the managing of junior staff members.
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in the production of sports studio broadcasting is necessary.
• The ability to work in a fast paced sports production environment.
