Crewing Manager (Fox Networks Group, FS West – Los Angeles, 90015)
This position is responsible for managing the booking of crews for each remote production in Los Angeles and across the US. Duties include managing the Crew Supervisor & Travel Coordinator. The Crewing Manager will work closely with each production team on season crew requests and will manage the allocation of crew. They are responsible for critiques, disciplinary action and individual development plans/ training for crew members. This position will work closely with the Director of Operations, Finance Director and Payroll Department to ensure timely payroll processes.
Responsibilities
• Manages the bookings of remote crews for 600 plus events annually. Oversees FS West Crew Supervisor and Travel Coordinator. Responsible for the allocation of crew, specifically for multiple event days with overlapping crew. Assists with freelance issues or concerns. Manages all facets of travel including freelance travel and the approval process for all ATL and BTL travel booked.
• Develops strong working relationships with union locals. Understands and complies with all collective bargaining agreements. Facilitates quarterly union craft meetings. Responsible for implementing new procedures (FOSS new hire system, Concur T&E system, etc.) and timely communication to our freelance community.
• Creates and oversees crew budgets for forecasting and budgeting purposes. Manages travel costs for monthly flash reports.
• Works closely with the Director of Operations to facilitate show crew requirements and initiates the training & development of freelance crew members. Manages Remote Crew Supervisors on Health & Safety protocol, proper reporting, follow-up on Tech reports, and any freelance crew questions or concerns that arise.
• Assists the CP's with managing the internship program at FS West (hiring interns and reviewing daily duties) and the hiring of office Production Assistants.
• Works closely with the Finance Director & Payroll Assistant to ensure timely entering of event codes into FACTS to initiate crewing of events. Tracks overtime costs.
Qualifications:
• This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Radio/TV/Film, or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 7 years' experience is necessary. Must understand the unique nature of sports remote events and what skill set is required to be successful at each and every position.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are needed.
• Strong math skills for budget & payroll calculations a plus.
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, FACTS crewing application.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills are necessary. Must possess strong command skills and must be able to work in a fast pace environment. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook is necessary. Strong knowledge of union (IATSE) policies is required. Must be able to build and maintain outstanding relationships and effectively communicate among disparate constituencies.
• Primarily works in a quiet professional office environment. Will occasionally be required to supervise on site for live events. Must be reachable and on call (when needed) 24/7.
