Job Title: Senior Network Security Engineer
General Summary:
Provides advanced-level data network design work, implementation, documentation, and troubleshooting with particular focus on firewalls and security. Responsible for technical management of advanced networking hardware and circuitry. Provides network services support at an advanced level to application developers, end users and other operational personnel. Provides group design and product recommendations and configurations. Resolves client business network problems through research, network installation and customization, network administration and network management support. Requires mastery-level skills and experience in network security, firewalls, DNS and DHCP design and troubleshooting, Internet environments, IPSec and SSL-based VPN's, remote access, and wireless networking. Media transfer experience with software such as Aspera and/or Signinant technology is desirable.
Responsibilities:
1. Local & Wide Area Network and Network Security Support
* Acts as subject matter expert on network security and firewall policy analysis, QA, and review.
* Responsible to architect and engineer Fox's network border security approach.
* Responsible for the operation and maintenance of Fox's Juniper NSM deployment.
* Performs network and security hardware and software maintenance.
* Ensures standards are maintained for firewalls and other network edge device version updates & patches
* Interfaces with vendors and NewsCorp partners to ensure security is maintained and integrated into all network connectivity activities.
* Produces and interprets network security analysis reports.
* Teams with Enterprise Security Services to implement and operate security policies and procedures.
* Provides, on an as-needed basis, 4th level escalation for network outages and application troubleshooting.
2. Network Design
* Consults with customers to identify data and network security requirements.
* Prepares and updates network security documentation.
* Designs and configures network security implementations.
* Assesses new and relevant networking and security technologies.
3. Design Reviews
* Maintains security design requirements documentation with accurate EIS information.
* Participates as a Subject Matter Expert in architectural and security design reviews.
* Makes recommendations on existing projects to improve network security.
4. Administration
* Communicates security plans, status and security issues to management on a regular basis.
* Reports security activities through time tracking system.
* Mentors other network engineers with security best practices.
* Participates in project and activity tracking processes.
* Participates in the change control process.
* Continuously updates and improves skills and networking knowledge through training and self-study.
5. Production Support
* Serves as an escalation point for network and security issues within IT.
6. Other Duties As Required
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Education: BA/BS
Certification/Licenses:
* Juniper Networks Certified Internet Expert (JNCIE)
* Cisco Certified Internetwork Engineer (CCIE) preferred.
Knowledge:
* Strong knowledge of Juniper NSM and JunOS Space Firewall Management Software.
* Strong knowledge of Unix, Microsoft Operating Systems.
* Strong knowledge of integrated voice and data systems.
* Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructures, topologies and protocols.
* Strong knowledge of current IT infrastructure trends.
* Mastery-levelskills in network security and managementframeworks, firewall policy, analysis, and review.
* Expert Juniper skills (all firewall and VPN platforms) including NSM products.
* Knowledge and experience with the following specific product sets:
* Infoblox DNS and DHCP appliances
* Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls
* Riverbed WAN optimization technologies
* F5 and Cisco network load balancers
* Aruba wireless systems
* Wireshark, Splunk, Opnet, application troubleshooting.
Skills:
* Strong project coordination skills.
* Strong relationship management and negotiation skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong analytical skills.
* Strong ability to interpret impact of technology choices.
Experience:
* Minimum 5 years in IT technical or engineering.
* Cisco LAN/WAN hardware and Juniper firewall experience required.
