Publicity Assistant (Fox Broadcasting Company – New York, NY)
The Publicity Assistant for FBC NY Publicity will provide day-to-day support for four Entertainment Publicity and Corporate Communications executives (SVP, Executive Director and two Publicists II), including handling talent travel arrangements and itineraries; pulling clips and quotes; sending packages; responding to media requests for materials and information; compiling status reports and recaps; making media updates; outreach to press members; and drafting written PR materials, including listings, biographies, press releases and series descriptions. In addition, the Publicity Assistant will serve as the office administrator by handling all invoices, billing, subscriptions, files and office supply orders, and overseeing the office internship program (recruiting, interviewing, managing staff of 2 interns). The Publicity Assistant will also assist in the coordination and execution of media events, junkets and promotional stunts, including the annual Programming Presentation (Upfront), and work with the Publicists II on the initiation/coordination of all radio tours and communications on behalf of the entire Publicity department (NY and LA).
Responsibilities
• EXECUTIVE/PUBLICISTSUPPORT - assists and works closely with SVP, Executive Director and two Publicists II, who act as publicists for FOX primetime network series, including time-intensive AMERICAN IDOL and four East Coast-based series;responds to press and requests for information; provides general support/assistance, including phones, emails, status reports, launch memos, travel arrangements and schedules (for talent), coding invoices prior to submission and maintaining media lists
• RADIO PRESS LIAISON –works with the Publicists II to coordinate all radio initiatives including talent tours and radio communications; pitches, coordinates and produces radio tours for all FOX series and talent; and manages 1200 radio contact list
• STUNTS/SPECIAL EVENTS -assists in development, organization and execution of NY-based stunts, promotions, special events, media junkets and other media events; coordinates event transportation; and handles on-site issues with media and talent
• INTERNSHIP PROGRAMCOORDINATOR – oversees NY office internship program; recruits, interviews, hires and oversees interns (2 interns per semester)
• HIATUS GRID - creates, maintains and updates hiatus grid for talk shows, which is utilized by all show publicists
Qualifications:
• College Degree and at least one year experience at an agency, studio or network publicity department
• Excellent written and verbal skills required
• Strong reasoning skills required
• Excellent computer skills on all office programs
• Talent relations and solid interpersonal and communications skills is a must. Must be outgoing, creative, team-oriented and able to prioritize and handle multi-tasks in a fast-paced environment.
