Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs (Fox Networks Group - Los Angeles, CA 90064)
Fox Networks Group is seeking a Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs in the Digital Media group, who will be responsible for advising business units, and negotiating, drafting and managing master services agreements (and related agreements) for technology transactions, software development, data security, information technology, e-commerce and marketing. This position will also handle complex legal research, counseling and analysis of FCC, FTC, copyright and privacy legislation and industry practices (such as CAN-SPAM, CDA, COPPA, DMCA and VPPA) and support social media initiatives.
This position will report to the SVP of Business and Legal Affairs and will provide general supervision and guidance to junior staff members.
Responsibilities
• Negotiate, draft and provide analysis of increasingly complex service agreements and new media agreements in support of the technology and data needs of a variety of business units across Fox Networks Group.
• Collaborate with key senior management, in partnership with the SVP of Business and Legal Affairs, to provide ongoing counsel and expertise for a variety of strategic, technology-related business matters, including but not limited to software and infrastructure development, data security, analytics, e-commerce, ad sales and marketing.
• Review and negotiate contracts, utilizing strategies that minimize legal exposure, in response to business questions.
• Provide in-house legal counsel, research and analysis to ensure business decisions are in compliance with applicable privacy legislation and industry practices, as well as data sharing and information security policies.
• Provide expertise in the development and management of a variety of social media platforms and mobile initiatives.
Qualifications
• JD required, with at least 8-10 years of transactional legal experience in the technology or new media industry. Previous network and/or law firm experience preferred.
• Must be active member of the California Bar or eligible for Registered In-House Counsel status with the California Bar.
• Excellent reasoning and problem solving skills.
• Must possess strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.
• Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills. Experience with DeltaView preferred.
• Must be very organized and able to manage multiple projects at once.
• Must have the ability to effectively evaluate legal exposure and manage risk.
• Must possess the ability to offer business and legal advice to business unit leaders.
