The Vice President of Ad Sales for Home Team Sports (HTS) will lead a sales team in New York comprised of Account Executives, Client Service Representatives and Client Service Coordinators with responsibilities including new business development, maintaining and renewing/growing existing accounts, and meeting revenue goals. This role will develop and implement sales strategies and tactical plans for region of accountability and will continuously evaluate sales performance in assigned region and modifies strategies and plans to drive revenue. The Vice President will be expected to evangelize and prospect into ad agencies, top tier advertisers, and Fortune 500 companies, and should utilize all available tools to expertly and properly represent HTS in the advertising community, including extensive face-to-face meetings, phone calls, email, and conference attendance.
Responsibilities
• Communicates and remains proactive in the day-to-day sales process. Handles issues regarding inventory, pricing, stewardship, errors, strategies, targets and budgets. Remains current on industry trends and regional positioning. Works with Account Executives, Client Service Representatives and Client Service Coordinators to raise their knowledge level.
• Ensures that the Account Executives, Sales Planners and Sales Assistants remain focused on stewardship; presentation development; prospecting; building working relationships in the ad buying community; using integrations concepts to develop regional sports marketing programs; and delivering compelling presentations.
• Manages the reporting function to ensure generation of information regarding prospects, pending deals, forecasts, advertiser contacts, specific proposal target lists and expenses.
• Provides general leadership and management. Ensures that the office maintains high standards and the processes are efficient and fresh. Remain focused on staff motivation, including handling all paperwork and reviews in a timely manner.
• Maintains small sales accounts list and budget in addition to management responsibilities.
Qualifications:
• This position requires a Bachelor's degree and 8-10 years experience in media sales with at least 3 years previous sales management experience and at least 3 years experience in digital/mobile selling. Sports sponsorship is a plus. A solid track record of consistently meeting revenue targets and the ability to build a high performance sales team is required.
• Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Dynamic presentation skills and the ability to engage a multitude of audiences is required. Must possess solid networking and relationship building skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required. Proficiency in PowerPoint is necessary. Strong knowledge of sales operations including local and national, traffic systems, programming & scheduling are required. IAB certification a plus
• Superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong business working relationships is required. Excellent organizational, project management and leadership skills are essential. A demonstrated ability to multitask and work effectively in a high-pressure environment is also required. Understanding of rate structure, inventory management, program rating methodologies, budget development and execution, compensation plans, ratings and cost per point analysis are required.
