Full Time Job
The purpose of this position is to take the ideas of the National Geographic photographers for making a photograph, and help them create the equipment that will turn a photographic concept into a reality. Your personal technical expertise and experience can be brought to any project, in an effort to make any photographic idea better or more obtainable. The job is a collaboration of concept and project implementation.
REQUIREMENTS
• Design and fabricate specialized photographic equipment and accessories e.g.; camera traps, pole cameras, remote imaging devices, drone and robot cameras
• Maintain, upgrade, and repair all photo engineering equipment
• Modify commercially available equipment to meet the needs of photographers in unique situations i.e.; modify RC car to accept DSLR camera and remote triggering device
• Maintain expertise in state-of-the-art photographic and video equipment, electronics, photo-related computer hardware and software, and machine technology
• Work with camera and software vendors to maintain competitive advantage in photographic development
• Research and evaluate proposed projects and their equipment and technology needs
• Track inventory, pack and unpack gear kits for shipping, insure equipment that is checked out is returned in a timely fashion
• An accurate knowledge of where gear is at all times and when it will be returned so gear is readily available for other projects
Qualifications:
• Associates degree
• 3-5 years' practical mechanical and electrical engineering experience
• Analog and digital electronic theory
• CAD, Photoshop, FileMaker, Microsoft Office Apps
• TIG welding, CNC machines, 3D Printer, Lathe, Drill Press, Bending machine, various metal working tools
