The Production Manager manages and supervise National Geographic Partners' digital and social video department and Third Party production companies' budgets, schedules and deliverables.
Responsibilities
• Production Manager/Production Specialist team is the hub of receiving all schedule updates and physical and electronic deliverables from assigned production companies. Responsible for circulating these deliverables and updates to applicable National Geographic Partners Digital internal departments so these departments can execute their workflow. This team is the liaison between the production companies and the requirements of the National Geographic Partners and our Digital Social distribution platforms and partnerships.
• Foster strong working relationships with each production company and balance the needs of the Producers within the Digital/Social Video team requirements related to technical, schedule etc. This relationship is integral in regards to understanding budget costs, production and post-production plans. Attend production company site visits in applicable locations with Vice President of Digital Operations, Director of Social Video, Director of Snapchat Content, Producers and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Work closely with Vice President of Digital Operations, Director of Social Video, Director of Snapchat Content, Producers and other internal and external stakeholders located in DC and/or New York offices to create and ensure smooth processes from concept to production to delivery. Also, serve as the liaison to our NGP Finance, Business and Legal Affairs especially during the contracting process and when applicable during production.
• Assist Producers in achieving the highest editorial quality and production value. Use original digital-social programming experience to offer suggestions to improve production or post production plans on each assigned video, or show/series.
• Production Manager is responsible for learning and executing NGP's production management's workflow. This requires learning this workflow including electronic databases in addition to meeting and understanding workflow between Production Management and all internal departments.
• Track and monitor cash flow, production and legal deliverables. Approve payments as milestones are met. Process invoices timely for payment.
• Trouble-shoot any risk assessment situations with production companies related to insurance policies, releases, rights waivers, credits etc. Collaborate and notify assigned Legal and Business Affairs representative of these issues to ensure National Geographic Partners is not exposed to risk.
• Responsible for Office Manager duties such as: ordering office supplies, setting up work spaces for additional staff, ensuring video conference system works, accessing databases in DC etc. Collaborate with Production Coordinators and Associate Producers on these assigned tasks.
• Supervise Production Specialist from green-light to final payment for each assigned production.
• Assist Production Specialist with tracking certain deliverables in National Geographic Partners database during the Production.
• Execute annual performance review of Production Specialist.
Qualifications:
• At least 10 years of experience in production and production management
• BA in Film Production is preferred
