The Content Protection department is seeking a Litigation Assistant to provide legal administrative support for up to four attorneys. This position works with and assists the team that brings litigation to enforce against the unauthorized use of Fox's creative content worldwide, provides legal advice to enforcement operations and Fox's TV, film and digital businesses and develops and advises on worldwide content protection policy and legislation. This position is located in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities:
• Research and summarize relevant case law in light of new industry developments.
• Research intellectual property and distribution rights and investigate copyright chain of title and associated agreements relating to particular titles.
• Collect and report series and episode information to support international litigation.
• Work with attorneys and operational staff to review and summarize infringing activity on websites, mobile apps and services.
• Assist with preparation of legal documents and redlines (e.g. powers of attorney), draft letters and other correspondence, and review and edit prepared documents for accuracy.
• Prepare presentation materials in PowerPoint and/or Prezi.
• Track and maintain litigation attorneys professional requirements, including bar memberships and minimum CLEs.
• Answer calls, send emails/faxes, and send packages by mail, messenger and UPS/FedEx.
• Schedule meetings and conference calls and circulate meeting materials.
• Manage and coordinate travel arrangements and prepare expense reports.
• Support litigation attorneys by managing case files and calendar related dates and deadlines.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years prior legal administrative experience in a law firm (preferably in the litigation field).
• Knowledge of general intellectual property/copyright/piracy concepts and familiarity with litigation rules, procedure, and pleadings strongly preferred.
• Must have strong written and oral communication skills, along with superior grammar, editing and proofing skills.
• Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail-oriented with the ability to independently prioritize work and handle multiple tasks with set deadlines.
• Must have experience using Westlaw, Pacer and CM/ECF.
• Excellent online research, typing and computer skills are required, including an advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Experience with Prezi preferred.
• Notary Public Certification preferred, but not required.
• Must be service-minded, with a high level of integrity and discretion in handling privileged and confidential information, and exhibit professionalism in dealing with senior professionals inside and outside the company.
• Interest in protecting intellectual property in light of the challenges and opportunities of the digital age is a plus as well.
