Fox Networks Group is seeking a Director of Television Production Safety to plan, develop and manage the implementation of comprehensive safety programs for film and television productions.
Responsibilities
• Provides guidance and assistance to productions in respect to all health and safety issues. Ensures productions have implemented the required elements of an effective EHS Program, analyzes and responds to safety concerns, and ensures quick and appropriate resolution.
• Conducts Production Management and Department Head meetings at the start of prep, and communicates with upper levels of production management to discuss safety-related issues.
• Assesses locations for risks during tech scouts/surveys and works with the Location Managers and Production Management to plan and remediate as necessary.
• Supervises production-related safety staff, and allocates resources such as time, budget, and consulting manpower, to most effectively address production safety needs.
• Researches and develops specific safety guidelines for unique production locations or situations. Recommends and coordinates the use of outside consultants when specific expertise is required.
• Creates written safety materials for productions, analyzes injury statistics to determine trends and/or potential job hazards, and determines the need for revision, further investigation, follow up and/or reporting to regulatory agencies. Coordinates periodic workplace inspections to ensure compliance.
• Manages production tracking data input and dissemination.
• Oversees the issue, recovery and inspection of department-owned equipment.
• Provides consultation on regulatory issues and liaises with public agencies in regard to environmental and safety related matters. Researches recent industry-related compliance issues (accidents, citations, pending litigation) and recommends changes in policy/procedure as necessary.
• Coordinates and maintains employee training and education programs to increase safety awareness.
• Creates and manages Sharepoint production safety pages and updates as necessary. Also manages Production Safety Website administration, access dissemination and updates.
Qualifications:
• Four year college degree in Occupational Health & Safety or science related area preferred.
• 7-10 years work experience in occupational health/safety or related fields required. Prior experience in production safety strongly preferred.
• CSP certification (Certified Safety Professional) and/or Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification a plus.
• 7-10 years film or television-production work or experience a plus.
• Must possess a very strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications and the ability to use, implement, and excel in the use of web-based applications and systems with minimal supervision.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and the production environment required.
• Must be able to exercise professional judgment, sometimes in difficult or stressful conditions, in assessing hazards and demanding corrections.
• Must be able to work independently and operate effectively without supervision and with minimal instruction. Must be able to manage and supervise staff.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, as well as the ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in demanding situations.
• Strong people skills required to develop good working relationships with studio and production management, and to interact productively with a broad range of people and personalities. Must be skilled in using diplomacy and tact to resolve difficult issues.
• Must be able to handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Must be able to prioritize and work within time and budgetary constraints. Good follow up skills required to ensure tasks are taken to completion.
• Flexibility required to adapt to the changing needs and schedules of productions. Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple assignments in multiple locations.
