Full Time Job
The Big Ten Network in Chicago is searching for a Coordinating Producer of Remote Events. The position is responsible for managing the production of BTN live event remote productions focusing on Men's and Women's Olympic events. Duties include overseeing and managing the production of live events and live or taped remote specials as well as providing verbal or written feedback after all remote shows. Position requires at least 7 years of network level remote production experience and a strong background in working with network level on-air talent and above-the-line personnel.
Responsibilities
• Manage live remotes and all freelance personnel associated with events.
• Ensure accountability for content and accuracy.
• Oversee on-air presentation, training, scheduling.
• Manage day-to-day issues, including hiring and assessing free-lance staff and talent.
• Research and initiate new methods of producing remote programming.
• Determine local storylines to be addressed each night.
• Manage day-to-day content within live events, including promotions, interviews, coverage and technical advancements.
• Ensure compelling content to add to the coverage events.
• Develop and manage strong relationships with Big Ten schools.
• Build trust with school partners allowing network to obtain more information to produce quality content.
• Conduct annual planning of remote production around local events in order to enhance live event coverage, including remote pre and post-game shows.
• Conduct weekly meetings and conference calls, as required.
• Create concepts for remote graphic ideas, use of popular music within broadcasts, flashbacks, social media interaction, and additional production elements within telecasts.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required.
• A minimum of 7 years' experience in the production of live event sports broadcasting is necessary.
• A working knowledge of remote facilities, event venues and integration with network is needed.
• Proven strong relationships within the remote television industry on a national level is necessary.
• Strong relationships with network level on- air talent and above-the-line personnel are a plus.
• Good organizational and project management skills are need.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook is required.
• Working knowledge of live remote mobile facilities is mandatory.
• Experience in working with on-air talent, including contract discussions, project assignments, and constructive feedback is necessary.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills are required.
• The ability to multitask on large-scale projects and work effectively with changing priorities and deadlines is essential.
• The ability to drive and work extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays is necessary.
