The Big Ten Network is searching for a Live Event, Associate Producer (Graphics) - MICR to join their team in Chicago. This position will take the lead on all graphics for programs originating from our MICR studios. This position will also act as a support position for the Associate Producers on site for our truck shows. Responsibilities include game research and statistical analysis for each event - Knowledge of all the sports we cover is imperative. It is expected that our AP's will assist Producers with creative graphic development as well as securing relevant headshots and action photos from each of the Big Ten Schools. Developing a close professional relationship with the SID's from the B1G schools will be very important in this position.
Work with Remote Production Producers and Coordinating Producers in planning game productions
• As game schedules are released, the AP will work closely with the show producers to prioritize graphic requests and submit orders to the Graphic Department in a timely fashion
• Research game notes and search other sources for storylines
• Communicate with SID's from each school
• Communicate with game talent and collaborate with them on storylines and graphic support for those storylines
Work with MICR production crew on LIVE broadcasts
• Assist VIZ operators during shows by organizing all graphic requests and feeding game information in a clear and concise manner during show builds
• Follow game flow and create relevant key graphics during the live show (ie records, stats, runs ,etc)
• Access and manage the on-air look of all graphics as they are being created and correct or improve before sending them to air. Act as a final stop to check spelling, accuracy, framing and overall design aesthetic
Work with Engineering
• Working with the Director of Engineering, Assistant Chief Engineer, and Senior Remote Engineer, as they are responsible for the maintenance and equipment of the VIZ graphic units - making them aware of issues as they occur and also help with scheduling should maintenance be required
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required - preferably in Communications, Broadcast or a related field
• Basic understanding of remote television production a plus - Passion for sports is a must
• Must have great organizational skills due to the number of productions & layout of show formats
• Excellent knowledge of the Big Ten conferences and each of the sports covered
• Good people management and coordination skills
• Must be good with statistical data
• Excellent communication skills
• Good intuition to make crucial judgment calls
• Must be able to create Excel spreadsheets
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
• Self motivated and able to have conversations with multiple levels of personnel
• Must be computer literate in MS Word & MS Excel.
