Full Time Job
The Associate Producer for National Geographic Partners will produce content for the Adventure site and blog. This position will update and maintain the Adventure home page, hubs and features, and tend to general maintenance of the digital presence, including any future site redesigns. The Associate Producer will manage editorial process on select projects, including receiving manuscripts, editing, fact-checking, and liaising with e the Copy Desk and Quality Assurance teams. This position will be responsible for general administration for the team, including managing contracts and monitoring blog, site, and social media comments. As needed and working closely with the editorial director, the Associate Producer, will proactively pitch, develop, write, edit, and publish daily, weekly, monthly content such as interviews, tips, gear recommendations, and photography features and essays. This position will also program a bi-weekly newsletter. As outdoor news and personalities is a large part of our content, this position will attend public relations and other relevant events. The Associate Producer will build metrics analytics reports and provide support for social media. This position will report directly to the Director of Adventure Editorial.
The ideal Associate Producer will have 3 to 5 years experience on fast-paced consumer editorial team and natural curiosity for the people and issues of the outdoor industry. They will be familiar with building content, basic HTML, site metrics, and SEO. Candidates should enjoy editing, copy editing, writing on deadline, and have a keen eye for detail and factual accuracy. They will also demonstrate a love of the outdoors.
Responsibilities
• Report and edit daily/weekly/monthly stories on issues of outdoor adventure.
• Produce smart, intelligent content that connects with both a niche adventure and global audience.
• Produce daily/weekly/monthly stories and maintain overall site presence.
• Engage presentations of digital storytelling.
• Tend to team administration such as contracts, invoices in a timely manner.
• Allow team to scale audience and revenue opportunities.
Qualifications:
• At least 3-5 years experience writing digital stories, especially about outdoor adventure and conservation issues.
• Strong writing, editing, and speaking skills.
• Experience in digital publishing systems.
• Expertise using social media to report and share stories.
