Full Time Job
The Associate Photo Editor is responsible for editing and producing photo content for National Geographic Travel digital media and print platforms. The position requires a strong visual aesthetic, editing skills and the ability to collaborate across all publishing platforms. The Associate Photo Editor will work with photographers, editors, interactive designers and digital producers to create multi-platform stories that combine rich Travel journalism with powerful visual storytelling. They will report to the Director of Photography for National Geographic Traveler.
REQUIREMENTS
• Research, develop and edit digital content for National Geographic's Travel website.
• Curate and manage projects including editorial stories and photo galleries, ad-sponsored photo projects, weekly content updates and social media platforms.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships in the photo community with an eye towards producing destination stories.
• Knowledge of image rights and clearance, image production and content management systems.
• Contribute content to the Travel photography social media networks.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree
• 3-5 years' experience as a photo editor at an editorial publication, media company or equivalent.
• Great visual taste with a diverse knowledge of travel and destination photography and photographers.
• Strong research and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, problem solve creatively and on deadline.
• Experience in digital journalism, video editing, and proficiency in social.
• Experience with producing native advertising.
National Geographic Partners LLC, a joint venture between National Geographic Society and 21st Century Fox, combines National Geographic television channels with National Geographic's media and consumer-oriented assets, including National Geographic magazines; National Geographic Studios; related digital and social media platforms; books; maps; children's media; and ancillary activities that include travel, location-based entertainment, archival sales, catalog, licensing and e-commerce businesses. A portion of the proceeds from National Geographic Partners LLC will be used to fund science, exploration, conservation and education through significant ongoing contributions to the work of the National Geographic Society.
