Division Description
The Jackal Group is a fully-financed production studio focused on multiple areas of content production including scripted and unscripted television series designed for network and cable platforms; feature film; digital productions tailored for emerging OTT and online platforms; as well as commercial theater productions. Media business entrepreneur and producer Gail Berman founded the company and serves as the company's Chairman and CEO.
Berman launched the Jackal Group as a co-venture with Fox Networks Group (FNG) designed in part to develop and produce content for FNG's channels including Fox Broadcasting Company, FX/FXX, the National Geographic Channels and Fox International Channels. The partnership also provides opportunities for FNG in the digital and feature film arenas as well as for non-21st Century Fox distribution entities. In early 2015 The Jackal Group further expanded its relationship with Fox by entering into a feature film first-look deal with Fox 2000.
The Jackal Group currently has the comedy series Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life and Easiest Game Show Ever on the air at Fox and Pop, respectively. The company is also currently in production on The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the television two-hour event set to air in Fall 2016 on Fox starring Laverne Cox, Victoria Justice and Ryan McCartan. The Jackal Group has a number of projects in development, including Horrorstör based on Grady Hendrix's novel of the same name, which received a put pilot commitment from Fox; and Mansland, an hour-long drama about a near future world where women are extinct, set up at USA Network.
The company is currently developing feature films TURN OF MIND at Fox 2000, THE ADDAMS FAMILY at MGM, THE UNTITLED ELVIS PRESLEY BIOPIC at Warner Bros., and THE LAW OF RETURN adapted from Martin Blank's play documenting the story of convicted spy Jonathan Pollard. In February 2015, The Jackal Group entered into a first-look feature film production deal with Fox 2000.
