FT Creative Associate Producer for YouTube Channel
Are you an amazing Project Manager that loves working with talent in the morning and editors at night? Or vice-versa? Or just editors ALL DAY LONG?
Fine Brothers Entertainment is looking for a smart, passionate & dedicated person to join our company full-time as an Associate Producer on our brand new REACT channel that has over 2 million subscribers already and averages 25 million views a month. We're growing by leaps and bounds this year and need to add another member to our producing team to help shoot, coordinate and create all the content featured on our REACT channel.
This is a position that will be training under our existing Producer, and in charge of helping every aspect of production, from casting episodes, to shooting interviews with talent, to sitting with editors and working through picture-lock & finalized cuts, making sure all notes from our EPs are addressed (read: LONG hours in the editing room with our post-team). The content on this channel is fully unscripted, so you should very much be interested in that field (as opposed to narrative scripted comedy for example). Note: no hands-on editing skills are required of you for this role, just a strong sense of story and direction for the episode.
Why Should I Apply?
Our company has been a pioneer in the digital space for 10 years, recently expanding offices and moving our 20 full-time employees to Burbank. If you're not familiar with who we are, check out our main channel ''TheFineBros'', currently ranked in the Top 25 YouTube channels worldwide. This channel alone has over 10 million subscribers, and well over 2 billion views so far. Oh, and we'll be having our first TV show debuting on Nickelodeon soon, in addition to the several pilots we have in development.
In other words, our incredibly talented team of writers, assistants, editors & producers are continually producing solid tv-quality content online already; now it's your turn to help us grow even faster.
The Gritty Details:
This position is full-time in house on-site in Burbank. Our work weeks are Sunday through Thursday and start at 9am. More than likely most of your days will go past 7pm, as you're fully responsible for everything your team is delivering that day. On the upside, there is an hour lunch in there somewhere where you can peace out and collect your thoughts. Oh, and we have a bunch of old gaming consoles, so if you want to spend your lunch break playing NBA Jam, that's around. Other than that, the benefits are slim. We have a filtered water cooler. That's pretty neat.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the daily and weekly schedules for REACT channel production team
- Assist with the casting and coordination for all REACT channel shoots
- Assist with the physical production and filming of various shoots during the week (including interviewing talent from behind-the-camera)
- Researching and pitching content and episode topics
- Coordinate and schedule sit-downs with editors
- Review and approve various assets
- Copywriting and research
- Quality control of final exports
- Assisting with the oversight and management of the entire production pipeline
The Expectations:
You must have an intimate knowledge of production from years of hands-on experience, either during college or once you graduated. You must be comfortable working with a wide range of talent from all different age groups. You must be comfortable working under tight deadlines and know how to troubleshoot technical issues on the fly without silently staring like a deer in the headlights at your monitor until someone asks you what's wrong. In general, making the same mistake twice is a huge bummer for us. Our producers are perfectionists who know their product inside and out, and if your ego cannot withstand numerous rounds of feedback on your work, this is not the job for you. In addition, you should:
- Have reliable transportation to and from our offices in Burbank
- Be familiar with YouTube and the YouTube community
- Have friends or significant others that don't mind you spending long hours away from home
- Enjoy sitting on your ass staring at a computer screen for many hours in a row
- Be fluent on Mac OS X & basic Mac software
- Be fluent in the Creative Cloud, with extra credit awarded for Photoshop skills
- Have a great sense of humor, and be fun to work around for 12+ hours at a time when needed
The Compensation:
For total transparency, you should know before applying that we are a start-up company. This means that although we have been growing strongly, we are not in a position where we can compete financially with the major networks or studios. You must have a passion for online video and the new media space to be happy working here with our incredible team. If this would just be a stepping stool for you to something else a year down the line, this probably isn't the right gig for you. We're looking for people that want to learn and grow with us. That being said, please send your salary requirements in your email to us to be considered.
Extra Credit:
Any technical talent is a huge bonus for us, including familiarity with a wide range of cameras, lighting, and footage codecs. Any previous history coordinating talent or working directly with editors is also a plus. Finally, if you want to stand out from the competition, make sure the first line of your email includes the name of your favorite character from Game of Thrones, and include your Top 3 favorite YouTube channels somewhere in your body text before you sign off. That's about it. Thanks for reading this post this far. Good luck!
