The Assistant General Manager ensures direction and coordination of activities of the circus operations unit optimizing use of equipment, facilities, and personnel by performing duties personally or through subordinate supervisor. Provide overall leadership and coordination of all show operations while maintaining the integrity of the unit infrastructure.
Essential Functions:
1. Maintains responsibility and accountability for the Production and Operational elements of the Show.
2. Ensures accountability for all aspects of animal care, record keeping and interaction with the public on behalf of Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey in accordance with federal, state and local requirements either personally or through subordinate supervisors.
3. Performs regular administrative duties inherent to the General Manager position.
4. Assists in mediation of work related disputes
5. In collaboration with Touring Unit General Manager, develops and monitors overall show budget and financial plans.
7. Recommends capital expenditures and improvements.
8. Responsible for overall risk control and compliance in the Unit.
9. Responsible for overall preventive maintenance program.
10. Responsible for the development of staff skills, knowledge, abilities, and cohesiveness between departments.
11. Conducts job specific/safety training including employee feedback of that training.
12. Accepts all other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
13. Continually seek to improve efficiency of show operations.
Requirements:
1. Three to five years related experience. Associates Degree in a related field is a plus.
2. Experience working and supervising in a union environment.
3. Ability to read and write routine reports, correspondence and technical journals.
4. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in various forms.
5. Ability to read and understand blueprints.
6. Experience in large scale touring load in/out.
7. Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, AutoSketch, CAD)
8. Valid driver's license.
