Vice President, Production (FX Networks Los Angeles, CA 90064)
FX Networks is seeking a Vice President to assist the SVP of Production in managing the production of scripted television pilots, series and limited series produced by the FX Network, and in interfacing with the executives in charge of production of third party pilots and series licensed by FX or co-produced with FX Productions.
Responsibilities:
Production Management
Interfaces both with internal executives in charge of production as well as executive producers and other external production and development executives for the licensed programs on FX.
Analyzes production budgets and cost reports within the framework of the creative vision FX executives expect to achieve; monitors adherence to FX production policies.
Monitors progress of all productions for financial, logistical and qualitative performance against approved plans.
Identifies line producers to be engaged for particular projects and manages the activities of such line producers to assure that FX in-house productions are on budget and on time.
Develops, evaluates and revises schedules and budgets. Identifies and directs measures to be taken to reduce production costs.
Productions comprise traditional scripted one hour dramas, ''low cost'' scripted half hour comedies, and mini/limited series each with their own unique budgets, production values and corporate structures.
Budgeting
Oversees the overall production budgets for FX and other Fox Cable Networks channels.
Expansive budgets call for an on-going familiarity with tax-rebate structures and location shooting advantages throughout the United States and abroad.
Continuously monitors hot costs and final cost reports.
Models pilot and series budgets for half-hour, one hour, mini-series and weekday strip programming; models budgets for strategic considerations.
Scheduling
Oversees the overall production schedules for FX and other Fox Cable Networks channels.
Continuously monitors schedules during production, post and delivery.
College degree preferred. Minimum 7 – 10 year experience as television production manager or producer. Expertise is required in budgeting some or all of the current and proposed forms of programming for the FX Networks (i.e., half-hour, one hour, mini-series, weekly strip). Experience with tax-rebate structures and location shooting advantages throughout the United States and abroad.
Deft communication skills required to balance the creative and economic needs of the company with the often competing interests of executive producers, talent, third party studios and others. Superior multi-tasking between projects in various states of production.
Needs to be strong due to the continuous oversight of budgets and spending.
Needs to be able to handle high level reasoning tasks, and make common sense decisions tempered by extensive production experience, often under extreme time limits.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks sometimes on severe deadlines.
Must be able to respond and interact with business people and creative talent in a professional and useful manner.
