Search for Master Control Operator jobs in San Diego-CA
This position will be responsible for maintaining video and audio functions of Master Control and insuring the integrity of three digital television channels 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The ideal candidate must be able to excel in a fast-paced, computer-intensive environment, work well under pressure and be solution-oriented. Strong verbal, written and follow-up skills are a critical component of this role.
Responsibilities:
• Perform all playback and monitoring functions for the origination of multiple server based broadcast channels, running 24 hours a day
• Review, edit, monitor and confirm the on-going reliability of three automation play-lists
• Prep and edit files for air. Conform files to formats required for commercial integration
• Operate Master Control software, ensuring it is programmed and running properly
• Interact with the automation software, making changes to the on air schedule when necessary to ensure continuity in the on air product
• Maintain all ''on-air'' and discrepancy reports and troubleshoot technical issues in Master Control, as well as have the ability and composure to perform in an emergency outage situation
Preferences:
• A self-starter that is highly motivated and driven with the ability to grasp concepts quickly
• Great aptitude and a passion to learn more everyday advancing their technical knowledge
• Able to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment, capable of working under pressure and skilled at performing and tracking multiple tasks during each shift
• Strong organizational and time management skills with an eye for detail
• Ability to work as part of a team of an experienced team
• Good interpersonal skills are a must
• Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays in support of live television broadcasts.
Education and Experience:
• Excellent understanding of computers, servers and video file formats.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred; two years related experience in a Master Control environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Broadcast automation systems
• Satellite acquisition and operations
• Knowledge of NTSC video/audio standards, terms and digital theory
• Video server operation and troubleshooting
• Various router functions
