Designers Needed
Set and Costume Designers need for 2 separate Summer Projects. These are NON-UNION Positions. This is an ideal stepping stone for up and coming artists or those wishing to get their foot in the door.
The ideal candidate will:
Have a keen sense and dedicated interest in working with low-budgets to develop creative design in a shared space with other shows currently running.
Ability to hit the ground running.
Follow instructions of the Venue rules and regulations.
Take initiative to assist wherever needed with limited time and staff of interns.
Have strong communication skills and ability to be available for design meetings, install, and track and instruction for the run of the show given to other intern staff members to take-over for the run of the production.
Have a sense of humor, lots of patience and flexibility.
Set Designer:
To quickly come up with design ideas, change as needed, craft the build and scenics (painting if necessary) to complete the project under time and budget constraints.
Prepare PPT Floor Designs for use by other design artists & production staff members.
Prepare a quick budget of items needed for the design, build, and install. Prepare plan for future maintenance and strike of items in the shared Venue during and after the closing of the Production.
White models and scalable blueprints are NOT needed.
Costume Designer (Hair & M/U for one period piece project):
To quickly come up with design ideas, change as needed, shop, build and alter (if necessary) to complete the project under time and budget constraints.
Prepare Sketch Designs for use by other design artists for color using swatches, water-colors, and/or modern wardrobe conventions to quickly distribute as needed for meetings with the creative team and production staff members.
Prepare a quick budget of items needed for the design, build, alterations and installation of costume needs in the shared venue.
Prepare a budget for weekly maintenance and needs during the run of the production.
Prepare a full costume plot for scenes and costume placement for the production.
Plans for future maintenance during the run and strike of items in the shared venue during and after the closing of the production.
Full sketch renderings are NOT needed and archival pictures will be maintained for the production.
Pay Rate: DOE. This is a Low Budget intimate theatre in a shared Venue. This total exclusive rate will include any kit rentals, however replacement for certain items will be pre-negotiated and approved by Producer. There will be no future royalties for anything outside this project.
May 30, 2016 - opening in mid-July (in repertory) Summer 2016
We will discuss how we can take care of basic work-related travel (subway travel) - If you are not a resident of NYC or commuter or not able to find your own board/housing, please do not apply.
Project 1 - New East Coast Premiere of the New Musical Pillars of New York having recently played in Los Angeles.
Project 2 - Two one-acts by Tennessee Williams.
