Role Specification
Role Objective:
The Business Affairs Associate is part of a team handling negotiation and issuance of license agreements and other related agreements and matters for Extreme Music. The Business Affairs Associate's focus should be to ensure the timely issuance and finalization of all license agreements and composer agreements.
Summary of Role Responsibilities:
This includes (but is not limited to) the following areas of responsibility:
*Draft and negotiate music licensing and composer agreements.
*Review and analyze agreements, providing reports as requested.
*Advise and coordinate with sales and marketing executives and other personnel to identify and resolve business and legal issues (including issues relating to contract interpretation) and provide ongoing counsel, advice and support.
*Assist with resolving various types of issues by coordinating with sales and marketing executives and other personnel.
*Liaise with outside counsel regarding various legal issues, including copyright claims, complex composer issues and pending litigation.
*Continual review of all contracts and maintenance of database containing information on all licenses issued.
*Ensure all incoming client requests are dealt with in a timely manner.
Person Specification
Qualifications/ Experience
Essential
*JD from a law school of recognized standing.
*Minimum of 3 years' experience in licensing, music or in-house entertainment law.
*Knowledge of general business practices.
*Demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment.
*Computer literacy (MS Word & Excel essential).
*Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
*Strong organization skills with high attention to detail.
*Ability to be innovative and suggest change/improvements within scope of work.
*Experience with license agreements, contracts and copyright law.
Desirable
*Related licensing and/or music law experience within the entertainment industry.
*Knowledge of foreign copyright issues and foreign PRO issues.
