Full Time Job
• Passionately and methodically govern the overall feature set, performance and value proposition for the EPIX app portfolio (which includes iOS, Android, Windows 10, Xbox One, PS4, Roku, AppleTV, TiVo and more) to ensure EPIX has the best-in-class Video User Experience that users love
• Driving innovative feature development for EPIX products in accordance with the Agile/Scrum methodology by serving as Product Owner - writing and overseeing a prioritized backlog/roadmap of clearly written user stories for each product with clear acceptance test criteria, working closely with Editorial Director, Digital Creative Director and VP Technology
• Partnering with Digital Creative Director to design, prototype and build visually stunning and easy-to-use experiences people love based on EPIX design patterns as well as contemporary design patterns for each product’s OS/Device
• Collaborating with Editorial & Design to ensure that all of EPIX’s thrilling content and innovative creative experiences are maximized to their fullest in every product, and that any feature impact to Editorial is agreed upon prior to any/all new feature development
• Working closely with EPIX Program Management and with in-house and third party Engineering, QA and Operations teams to build and support each product
• Incorporating user feedback through constant user testing (online, focus groups, etc) and user feedback channels (app store comments, support inbox, etc) working closely with Editorial, Research, Social and Customer Support
• Establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across the product portfolio and analyzing performance data to ensure goals are being met
• Monitoring and reporting on platform partner announcements and roadmap plans that could help/hinder EPIX products and/or influence EPIX’s product roadmap
• Ensuring each app’s “mission statement” defining the business value of each product to EPIX and the value to a user is clear
• Leading a team of digital product managers and other key product roles, including hiring and day-to-day management
• Building and Managing day-to-day relationships with app platform partners, working to ensure EPIX has direct access to platform insights and roadmap and helping build strategic partnerships together with EPIX Marketing and Business Development and Strategy teams
• Prioritizing development efforts across each product based on multiple inputs – eg user feedback, business/management goals, bug fixes, KPI impact, data insights -- and in conjunction with the team product and editorial roadmap
• Leading innovation around new feature concepts designed to thrill EPIX users in new ways and maintain EPIX’s reputation as a market leader
• Deeply and intuitively understanding the competitive positioning of EPIX products by tracking performance and feature sets of directly competitive apps (eg HBO GO, Showtime Anytime, Netflix, Hulu, etc) as well as other popular and innovative apps
Basic Qualifications
• 5 years of experience product managing apps across mobile and TV platforms
• 2 years of experience with Agile or Lean methodologies, software engineering practices, and traditional project management approaches
• Experience writing detailed user stories required
• Experience working with standard Agile tools like JIRA or Rally
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
• Experience building media/video apps highly desirable, including TVE and Direct-to-Consumer
Additional Qualifications
• Experience managing projects involving responsive web design and development highly desirable
• Experience as a project manager or scrummaster for projects involving mobile products (e.g., apps for iOS, Android, etc.) desirable
• Experience managing projects within a media company and/or in an online business environment
• Experience being part of and/or leading a software development team
• Experience writing software using standard web-based languages (eg JavaScript)
• Experience using design software like Adobe PhotoShop
• Experience building clickables/prototypes using tools like proto.io
• Ability to lead and motivate people to encourage performance and teamwork
• Demonstrated working partnership with software developers, technical and business management, department heads, product developers and QA teams
• Possess superb written and verbal communications and presentation skills
