Overview and Responsibilities
The Development Operations Engineer reports directly to the VP of Tech Operations. This position will provide systems administration support for Digital Operations and will be responsible for systems administration, application deployment, server management, system/application monitoring, and managing migration to CI using industry standard tools to AWS infrastructure.
Basic Qualifications
• 3 years of experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• Experience administering machines in a cloud-based environment
• Linux (Ubuntu/Debian) systems administration
• Must be able to understand and use infrastructure automation tools (Chef/Puppet/Ansible/Capistrano/Jenkins)
• Experience with monitoring software (Zenoss, Nagios, Cacti, collectd, Graphite)
• Must have knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, HTTP/S, NTP and DNS
• Experience with various relational and noSQL databases (MySQL, RDS, Redis)
• Experience deploying and supporting several methods of serving applications (Apache, Nginx)
• Experience with source control system (Git)
• Knowledge of modern scripting languages (Bash, Python, Ruby).
• Familiarity with CDN’s (Akamai, Cloudfront, Cloudflare)
• Understanding of security protocols such as SSL and certificate management
• Knowledge of Cloud based storage systems (Netstorage, S3)
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

• Responsible for traditional systems administration and application deployment
• Manage servers, monitoring systems and applications
• Manage the migration to CI, using industry standard tools to AWS infrastructure
• Manage migration away from legacy infrastructure to one that supports Ruby-on-Rails
• Writes and manages application and scripting code used to control infrastructure automation tools
