Freelance Job
The Music Library Specialist will spearhead the development and build
out of a music library consisting of assets composed for previous productions and new material. This position should understand and be familiar with industry leading production music libraries and the workflow of music needs in unscripted programming. The ideal candidate has an ear for high quality production music sound and structure with a comprehensive knowledge of how it's used and accessed. This is a freelance positions and is projected to last between 4-6 months with potential for periodic library update services as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
• Review all existing music assets to identify:
• What is up to par in terms of quality and structure to be included in the music library;
• What is close but needs certain attainable improvements (e.g. additional stems, small edits, etc.);
• What should be excluded due to quality concerns and creating a genre/style balance.
• Create a library organization system for the assets to be included (e.g. genre, style, album, etc.)
• Identify genre/style gaps that need to be filled to best serve unscripted productions across a variety of formats and networks (competition, fashion, documentary, etc.)
• Retitle and organize tracks according to library naming convention and keeping track of original title reference
• Embed metadata via Soundminer or similar software (copyright data, album art, search terms, etc.)
• Upload content and metadata to searchable website and QC testing (e.g. Source Audio, Harvest Media, etc.)
• Other requirements as needed
Skills
& Qualifications
• College degree preferred
• Minimum 4 years' experience working for a production music library or composition service with an existing music library
• Familiar with industry leading composers and libraries in unscripted Television along with current industry music trends
• Extensive experience with music library search systems and backend requirements for effective user experience
• Composing and music supervision experience a plus
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently
• Excellent communication skills – both in person and over phone/email
• Exceptional attention and preference for detail
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Ability to anticipate needs, be proactive, resourceful and flexible
