MUSIC DIRECTOR - HOT 97
Summary:
The Music Director has responsibility for working with the Program Director in determining and overseeing an appropriate mix of musical programs for the radio station, reflecting the interests and tastes of the listening community we serve; for the solicitation and review of recordings; and for maintaining the standards of quality for the music we program.
This position reports directly to the Programming Director for Hot97
Role Responsibilities:
• Schedules and selects proper music for air play to achieve a high listener base for the station, including the following..
• Schedules music, liners, and promos via computer.
• Develops and maintains relationships with record companies by speaking with music promoters, discussing music ads, future promotions, and station concert promotions.
• Develops and maintains relationships with music-related clients, artists and artist managers, trade magazine and newspaper personnel.
• Produces, edits, and prints daily music logs.
• Writes, produces and updates commercials, sweepers and promos involving music.
• Coordinates promotions involving music.
• Executes on-air shift, remotes and appearances as required.
• Connects the station and the community by responding to letters, memorandums, reports and directories and charts for public and/or private release.
• Researches new and upcoming music/artist information and updates Program Director of music industry trends.
• Maintains music library.
• Other duties may be assigned
Candidates should have:
• Two years related experience required, experience in Broadcast Media is a plus
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (both oral and written)
• Strategic thinking problem solving, attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Tireless work ethic
