This internship - at a Chicago based independent blues and roots label and artist management company - entails assisting the ceo in developing and implementing business and marketing strategies offline and online, of Dan Kennedy & Bill Glazer, Russell Brunson and others, and business planning models by Rich Schefren and others. The skill sets required are a high level of verbal and written communication, ability to think creatively ''inside and outside the box'', knowledge of WordPress or similar website tools, basic knowledge of social media such as Facebook, YouTube and Isocial, willingness to learn and apply new concepts and techniques. Interest in blues and roots music is a must. This is an opportunity to develop entrepreneurial skills much needed in this economy. I expect interns to show initiative and have genuine interest and curiosity about the music business and entrepreneurship.
The person selected must be able to take direction as well as work independently in a small office and sometimes offsite. Hours may be flexible, non standard hours depending on the company's and intern's needs. There is a possibility of developing a business as an independent service provider in the music business or as an entrepreneur. The Company CEO is willing to do paperwork before, during and after the internship so the intern can obtain academic credit.
The intern will have an opportunity to meet musicians and other music business personnel and other business people in Chicago and elsewhere, by attending industry trade events and performances as the guest of the CEO. Depending on the length of the internship and any college credit involved, the intern may be asked to, and may ask to work on a specific project through to completion. The CEO is amenable to some structuring of the internship based on the intern’s specific interests.
The intern will be expected at the onset to set specific measureable goals for what he/she wants to accomplish. Prior to the end, the intern will be asked to complete a written evaluation of the internship experience and to discuss it with the CEO.
