Hiring....The Now Supervising Producer -- Tired of the same old thing in local TV news? If you have great passion for news and innovation, this is the opportunity you have been looking for! The EW Scripps Company is looking for a passionate and driven leader to take our growing national newscast to the next level. This innovative news program, targeted at our 4pm audience, is a high-energy, up to the minute, interactive news program that is built around a national news desk, and produced in partnership with our local stations. The Now airs in nine Scripps markets and will be adding more.
The 4pm Supervising Producer is a National desk position located in Denver Colorado. This position involves coordinating national coverage and working closely with management in our local markets. People skills are an absolute must. This is an experienced management position. We are looking for someone who is excited about creating new ways to present content.
Detailed Description:
The Supervising Producer works out of the national desk with the Executive Producer, and oversees the Now hybrid newscasts produced in our markets and helps the Senior Producers in each market build their news programs.
Duties:
Supervises multiple local markets' news programs ensuring they consistently match the brand of the overall show.
Reviews and approves show rundowns, story ideas and pitches to ensure consistent creative and content execution.
Works with Senior Producers in local markets on an individual basis, helping them create the best program possible on a daily basis.
Works with Executive Producer and the national desk team to expand storylines and editorial calendar as well as assist with development for programming.
Communicates creative vision for the news program as a whole.
Develops feature ideas providing outlines and synopsis and pitches story ideas.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years working at the management level in a local TV newsroom, with a track record or ratings success and product innovation.
Knowledge/Skills:
Passion for news, pop culture and entertainment.
Creative and flexible; able to bend for breaking news and understand how to lead a team when that happens.
Understands the importance of social media as a research tool.
Proficient in social media.
Understands the concept of interactive and engaging programming.
Proficient in Final Cut Pro.
Working knowledge of multi-media file formats and strong computer skills.
Able to utilize web analytics.
Highly creative.
Strong editorial judgment.
Working knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws.
