National News Executive Producer- Denver, Colorado
Tired of the same old thing in local TV news? The E.W. Scripps Company is looking for a leader, National News Executive Producer, to help lead a hybrid national/local afternoon news program that runs in multiple markets. We need a top notch, creative, inventive Executive Producer to lead our national news desk and be responsible for the overall look, style and production of the individual shows airing on multiple Scripps stations. The location for this position is Denver, CO.
Responsibilities:
Utilize new ways of story-telling across multiple platforms
Lead a team of supervising producers and content creators in the national newsroom as well as at the individual stations
Oversee the reporting of breaking news, trending topics, introduce topics of interest and importance, and cover the stories that our national audience will find relevant
Consistently be ahead of the curve on what the next big story will be
Have the ability to blend hard news, pop culture and entertainment in a way that makes sense to the audience at home in a very competitive 4pm time period
* Collaborate with leadership at local stations to combing resources and hone strategies that will drive ratings success.
Other qualifications:
The national news executive producer is responsible for quality control of all aspects of the show while managing the content and showcasing across multiple platforms
Lead and participate in audience growth strategies across multiple platforms.
Lead short and long term planning for programming content.
Collaborate with pertinent parties for budget and responsible for budget oversight.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Education and experience
Bachelor's degree in related field of equivalent experience required.
8+ years experience working in a newsroom or news magazine with an emphasis on production, development and programming.
Previous experience as a Supervising Producer on a nationally produced magazine is strongly preferred; EP in a large market or News Director in a smaller market will be considered.
Skills & Abilities
Excellent communication, team building and listening skills.
Ability to supervise a staff and bring a creative, innovative vision to the production on air and multiple platforms.
Ability to work under pressure of multiple deadlines and assignments.
Knowledge and demonstration of editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws.
Proficient use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Final Cut Pro, and Avid iNews
Some travel may be required.
