National News Planning Booking Preditor (Producer/Editor) -- The E. W. Scripps Company is looking for a National News Planning/Booking Preditor in our new 4pm news program.
Are you the one we've been looking for? We are building a top-notch, creative, inventive national team to create content for a new outside-the-box, 4 pm news program, as well as building out new local teams to deliver the program.
The Planning Booking Preditor is a National desk position located at the Scripps Affiliate in Denver, Colorado KMGH and reports into the National Desk Supervising Producer located in Denver, Colorado.
Detailed Description:
PLANNING/BOOKING PREDITOR--- Must have at least 5 years experience in top 20 news market or larger. Experienced booker with excellent pitching skills. Proven ability to convince top experts and contributors to appear on air. Able to work under tight, daily deadlines securing
interviews, in some cases, in just a few hours for same day air. Excellent writing skills are key. Must be able to compose urgent, present tense copy with a strong understanding of context and ability to make viewers care. Final cut skills also needed as you will often be asked to cut VOs, VOSOTs and packages. This is a small newsroom and a startup, so a positive, can-do, mature response to challenges is key.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications or equivalent experience.
Experience:
5 years of experience as a writer, producer, and editor in a news room environment.
Knowledge/Skills:
A team player who works effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Copywriting and visual storytelling skills.
Collaborative mindset.
Strong communication skills.
Highly organized.
Works calmly under pressure.
Keen understanding of what's trending, and the importance of keeping an eye on those stories.
Strong interest in consumer stories, including deals, bargains, sales and specials.
Working knowledge of content on multiple platforms.
A strong interest in human interest news stories.
Passion for news, pop-culture and social media.
Proficiency with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop and After Effect.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the Internet.
