Position Overview This is the top diversity and equal opportunity role for ESPN. The position is responsible for advancing the organization’s global diversity and inclusion philosophy. The position serves as the lead executive responsible for building and promoting ESPN as a great place to work because of its efforts around inclusion, work/life and employee wellness. You will serve as the company’s chief spokesperson concerning matters of inclusion. The successful candidate will build upon existing programs, champion new global initiatives and expand the company’s current diversity, work/life and employee services strategy. As the chief diversity officer, you will continue the company’s tradition and commitment to diversity by providing visionary and strategic leadership to senior executives in the Human Resources department and the company’s business segments on all aspects of diversity & inclusion, employment equity, measurement, access and cultural understanding. In this role, you will report to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources, advise the company’s eight Employee Resource Groups and provide strategic vision, leadership, counsel and guidance on diversity matters through out the company while partnering with ESPN’s business leaders to advance the company’s global inclusion practice. Further, as the chief architect for ESPN’s work/life and employee services programs, you will also help us to ensure the company maintains a contemporary, healthy and flexible work environment that supports balance and aligns with our business priorities. Your Professional Record As a candidate for employment as the VP Diversity and Work/Life Programs you will bring experience as a successful leader. We are interested in professionals with extensive experience in a global diversity & inclusion practice. You should be a self-starter that can continue the development of ESPN’s diversity and work/life function. You must be able to align and execute strategic and operational goals in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Your financial, operations, consultation, resolution and negotiation abilities should be extremely polished. You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of effectiveness and expertise in diversity, plus the ability to lead change through highly effective change management processes. Quickly build strong relationships and be known for absolute integrity. Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal are essential for leading, coaching and corresponding at all levels of the organization. Basic Requirements for this position include: BA/BS degree required Advanced degree (MA/MS, MBA or PhD preferred) Minimum 12 years' HR experience or equivalent Minimum 10 years experience as a senior level diversity leader Experience with diversity, cultural competencies, laws and regulations pertaining to equal employment opportunity and supplier diversity Have a multi-cultural sensitivity in all areas of diversity and inclusion nationally and internationally. In depth knowledge of diversity best practices, concepts and programs Experience and knowledge of adult learning concepts and excellent facilitation skills Ability to travel as required (projected about 20-30%) Strong analytical skills, including comfort working with numerical data and performing data analysis and reporting Broad understanding of talent assessment and development Highly developed commercial sense and understanding of key business drivers Advisor, counselor and confidante to executives on maximizing employee engagement Preferred Qualifications include: Global diversity experience, multi-lingual, Spanish/Portuguese language skills highly desired.
